Camellias for the Triangle

Camellias carry fall-through-spring flowers when most of the yard is bare. Sasanquas take more sun and bloom in autumn; japonicas prefer morning sun and flower late winter into spring. Acid soil, a slightly high crown in Piedmont clay, and wind protection matter more here than extra fertilizer.

Start with cultivars already earning local search interest— Scarlet Sunset, Autumn Delight, Yuletide, and Kanjiro—then browse the full list for japonica spring bloomers and more sasanqua fall color.
